Yeah, i even tried to initializing it to 0. this fixed the problem but
just made more gcc errors. so yeah i think it is gcc problem for sure,
which is very unfortunate.

I think this is a GCC 3.4.4 bug (it says the variable is unitinialized while
it is clearly beeing initialized)
