it's because multiple people want to work on this, and we want to be
free to make missteps that break the build in the process. Importing
BIND nslookup is not trivial and involves at least:
 - importing an executable and two DLLs
 - getting it all to compile and link correctly
 - (possibly) converting the two DLLs into static libraries, or at the
very least renaming them
