Exactly. This byte code is the hinting that Ged suggests embedding in our Marlett font. Of course freetype still hints, but it ignores the bytecode and works around it. Hence embedding hints in the TTF would be rather useless. Ask wierd_w, he's been having a lot of trouble with hinting and freetype. The only solution we could come up with is adding a hack for greyscale bitmap fonts that substitute the outlines for certain font sizes.
