ReactOS have not to wate a time and copy all evolution steps.
I think it is beter to skip one step and be modern!
Windows 7 behevor does not affect the old hhd (does not not make parformance lower)  and have benefits not only on SSD but on all new Advanced Format HDDs

So to highlight we have two problems:
1) SSDs
2) AF HDDs

You've made your point by now...
Since Windows has only been optimized for SSD's since Win7, I don't think this is of much concern. Add to that the fact that you'd have to be insane to run ReactOS in it's current state on real (new) hardware.

Hi!

I plan to change the standard harddisk geometry from the old 32 sectors
and 64 heads geometry to the new 63 sectors and 255 heads geometry next
weekend. The old disk geometry was used up to Windows NT4 and the new
geometry is used since Windows 2000. So I guess it is time for ReactOS
to make this change too. ;-)

This should improve the compatiibility with other OSs because every
modern OS uses the new disk geometry.

Please note that you must delete and re-create all partitions on your
virtual harddisk in order to get a clean partition table when the new
disk geomerty is in use.

Regards,
Eric
