Well creating the dump file is only 6 hours, but then there is the
preparations, the rsync'ing, the loading of the dump file and me
needing sleep once in a while and taking account for any unforseen
problems. Had I said 20 hours and not being done by that I would
have gotten about 20 what-went-wrong questions the minute that time
had passed.

conversion process that makes it take that long?
