The import support for MSVC projects is not perfect, so it shouldn't be relied on. Never should you make the assumption that you can rely on any form of import system.

This is true FOSS support. As Colin says codeblocks can open vcproj files.
What's the point in us trying to maintain a backend when codeblocks provides

Yes.

The codeblocks backend is very incomplete and very old.
It should have been removed a long time ago.
Anyway, it's gone now :)
