The main site is
http://scripts.sil.org. You can find links to font
downloads and the license there.
I think Doulos SIL is pretty interesting. It looks very similar to Times
N R and has almost all Roman- and Cyrillic- characters. But it's missing
italic and bold types and they are not planned. But as it is Open Font
License, it is allowed to change them and create these styles.
They also have other fonts like Arabic and Hebrew
And there are more Open Source fonts at

Maybe it would be a good idea, to make a wiki page adressing all font
concerns. Like what fonts do we need, what fonts are there with a GPL
compatible license, is it allowed to change these fonts, how should
fonts be named, what unicode characters should be in these fonts,... I
think I will do this now...
