The importance of having a stable installer is
paramount, as a minor flaw can break the confidence of
a newbie.
A similar work was carried out for GNU (with Hurd
servers on Mach microkernel) -

The feedbacks were encouraging, some even
complimented the boot splash image shown in the site.
I am planning to go ahead with the cross-installation
method now, as I don't know whether ReactOS is aiming
at supporting other file systems, in future.
If it works out, then by the time we announce the
stable release, we can have a pretty good installer in
place, capable of installing ReactOS without
disturbing the existing partitions.
