Some of those problems have been caused by buffer overflows in image
loading code, perhaps even in zlib (yes, there have been buffer overflows
in ZLib!). You can't really blame MS for bugs in zlib. Of course
many of the problems had to do with embedded scripts being given too much
freedom, and that you can blame MS for.
