Thanks for your support Colin!

I am actually of the same opinion as Robert : when the 1st-stage GUI is ready, we use it, but we should still offer the USETUP text mode as an alternate replacement (this choice can be simply implemented via a bootloader menu entry).

Also, you need to think about the possible future usages of ReactOS, like remote or headless installations (in the headless case you would have a text terminal plugged but then, some text-mode interface would be needed). Or the need of a text-mode installation for a text-mode only ReactOS distribution (or fork threof, like some kind of “GNU-NT” constituted of the NTOS base + the GNU utilities ported as native NT applications…) etc... etc…

Cheers,

Hermès

I'd say it should stay as fallback solution.

Hey Hermès,

Great work on the setup components! I especially like the library that
paves the way for a feature-rich graphical installer :)

Oh yes, I'm all for a good looking installer with nicely readable texts
in all languages. Which brings us to the GUI installer and to the
question what we would still need the text-mode installer for when the
GUI one is perfect?
