I don't see the problem with simply asking.  Why not ask, let *them* do 
the thinking that we're doing on this list, and let *them* give us a 
definitive answer?  If they say, "Thanks, but no thanks," then it's no 
skin off our collective noses.  If they say yes, so much the better.
