Hi all,
I too am a bit of a lurker on this list. My first thoughts in this thread were to agree with the suggestions to make reactos.com the OS site and reactos.org the community/developer site. This is what MySQL (there are other examples I'm sure) have done - mysql.org is basically dev.mysql.com, which has always made a lot of sense to me. You go to mysql.com if you want to use the product, or you go to mysql.org if you want to check out the development side of things.
However having thought more about it there is a difference between mySQL and ReactOS - mySQL AB is a company trying to run a business selling and supporting their open sourced software, whereas ReactOS is a non-profit organisation from the ground up. So with that in mind it makes sense to me for reactos.org to be the primary and only site and reactos.com to redirect to it.
This makes even more sense since ReactOS is a long way from being a 'product' as such - it is still definitely in the realm of developers and curious onlookers, so having a seperate .com site for the software as opposed to the development of it wouldn't make sense yet.
Cheers Derek
Hi everyone. I've been lurking in this list for quite some time. I'm simoncpu from Cebu, Philippines. :)
IMHO, I think it would be most logical to use the .org TLD because it appropriately describes the nature of the ReactOS project. We must use reactos.org for all correpondence and advertisements, but reactos.com must still redirect--not just point--to reactos.org. I agree that other sites will tend to link to reactos.org.
