Thank you very much for the quick notes about a productive meeting. Hopefully the next release will feature QEMU 1.0 bundled with the LiveCD download.

"November 2001 meeting minutes" :D
Why were they posted in the forum instead of the mailing list? They're now attached to this mail.

Also, Aleksey says he's going to rewrite mm after the release, so it would be a waste of resources to work on the existing one.
A curious question regarding this: wasn't mm already rewritten a rather short time ago? Or did I understand it wrong what the ARM devs did there?

Some things are getting rewritten a lot, getting better and better during each iteration, with occasionally a bug here or there.
As for the necessity: Cameron Gutman's debugging changes to CC/MM show that ReactOS currently needs 84MB (phase 1) or more, especially during bootCD filecopy phase. Anything less ends up (in QEMU) with: "(\ntoskrnl\cc\view.c:403) Evicted 256 cache pages" and usually internal debugger kicking in. Ideally the debugger wouldn't need to trigger even with something like 32MB RAM (20MB base OS + 10MB+ filecopy buffer). Trouble for old real hardware thus.
We need a newer Flex version in RosBE for Windows... The problem is the version on GnuWin32 is very outdated.

I would like to clarify, that if someone wants to fix bugs in the existing implementation - please go on, but be prepared that this code will be deleted once the mm rewrite is complete.
Also, as a clarification, the mm rewrite is an ongoing process started quite some time ago, and I volunteered to finish it if noone else would do. I really wish someone else steps in though, because I have a lot of already started projects in ReactOS which I would prefer to finish instead.
WBR, Aleksey.
