This is a suggestion:
Can ReactOS implement an OpenLDAP backend to the ReactOS website. There are many benefits to implementing OpenLDAP into the reactos.com website. First, reactos.com can use this software to authenticate users in certain modules of the website such as future forums, wikis (via publishing), and possible later implementation into a mass- mailing system like squirrelmail or mailman, suggestions, hint hint, or perhaps in the future an instant messenger engine. Also OpenLDAP would be able to provide back-end website developers to verify status of community members.
How is that for a baby step to implementing someone's ideas... Rick Langschultz rlangschultz@cox.net (Home) rlangschultz@ellemaespa.com (Work) rlangschultz@email.uophx.edu (School)

Which of our current website software support OpenLDAP and which does not?

Well without actually being the webmaster I really don't know which could be easily migrated to an OpenLDAP back-end.
Although without the new reactos.com website coming up, I think an OpenLDAP back-end would be better to implement than a MySQL - PHP one because of long-term benefits. On Aug 29, 2005, at 10:15 AM, Casper Hornstrup wrote:

OpenLDAP instead of MySQL/PHP? What are you talking about?
You have to agree that ReactOS uses PHP and MySQL for its back-end for user management, right? On Aug 29, 2005, at 12:05 PM, WaxDragon wrote:

I'm not privy to the working of the site, there is a team for that. You kept saying "backend", you didn't specify user management.

The new ReactOS homepage will have its own "Global Login System". It is integrated in RosCMS, bugzilla, mediawiki and phpbb right now and works fine.
So there now only one account required for all subsystems.

We are currently testing the homepage and its subsystems. There will be a beta test soon ...
