Hi all,
I write this mail with great sadness, but I've recently been informed that Ge Van Geldorp, one of the original and important contributers to the ReactOS project has recently passed away. Having met up with him personally, I can say with some confidence that he was not only blessed with an impressive skill in the hobby / industry we all love, but was also a man of great integrity.
Being one of my original mentors in reactos, and having spent time busting our guts at various linux projects with him trying to convince the unix fanatics of the merits of NT, I can assure you that this he was both a great colleague and friend. I'm sure all the old school reactos devs would more than agree.
I propose we have some sort of eulogy on our homepage. I'd be more than willing to compose something. If people would like to send their thoughts, wishes or memories, I'd be more than happy to compile them.
Ged.
I feel so sorry about hearing these news. I didnt see him personally, but it's quite sad to know a ReactOS Community member (dev, tester, follower) has passed away. At least "one piece of his soul will be forever among us, in the ReactOS code" I propose to dedicate the next release, the PI one (0.3.14), to Ge Van Geldorp adding a small sentence remembering him in the boot logo. Feeling so sad, rest in peace , Victor.

I really like the idea. It was quite funny with him when I first joined the chat and forums. At that time we still had the former website. He always was the first helping me with my forum moderation if I needed help and chatting with him in #reactos was always fun and very informative, too.

Ge Van Geldorp was a good fried to me when I was devlooping on reactos. I feel sad he is gone now. Last time I spoke with him was last year, I known many of us old devloper love him and I rember I did fight with him about win32k some part he feel was wrong I feel he did wrong. But at end we always find a slovtions to the problem. I known he did not like the new directions reactos did take year 2007, I known he did what his heart did tell him. I did understand why he did leave the ReactOS project. I Known I done some mistage my selv when I did leave the project as devloper. I will say GvG was one of the few devloper with the first devlopers of ReactOs, Both me and Fireball did join ReactOS same time. I known I and Fireball did everthing to try to keep GvG in ReactOS. I miss him a good devloper and friend.
GvG did many thing in ReactOS and I also, it was he wrote the gendib, it was long talk betwin him and me. I did dubble cate same code many time for dib inside win32k so he did not think it was good idea. His idea was write a tool the auto genrate the code, so it was more easy to change the code if anything was wrong. So he took my code and move it to gendib code. It is there even today.
