I was wondering if there was any plan on implementing Intel's EFI in the near or distant future. I hear that Intel wants to move away from BIOS and work more closely with EFI. I know that support for the BIOS will never totally disappear but EFI is a better architecture in my opinion.
So here is my request for EFI support in ReactOS.
And it's needed to support the new macs.

True, I bet if EFI was supported in ReactOS before it was supported in Windows it would really help the project grow and develop. On Feb 26, 2006, at 7:51 AM, Reuben Perelman wrote:

Perhaps a look at XNU could give us clues to wiring support for EFI. Intel's EFI site is available at: Http://www.intel.com/technology/efi/

We support EFI since NT 5.2 SP1 (3790.1830)
"We"?

I was going to write a sentence about ReactOS and started with we, then I backspaced to write it about Windows, and left the we in. Sorry.

Then why can't Windows 2000 and XP install on a new intel based iMac. If it is supported it should install. On Feb 26, 2006, at 4:41 PM, Alex Ionescu wrote:

In my freetime I'm looking into EFI/Freeloader also - however it's not that straightforward (IMHO, maybe Alex will clear up the situation).
Solutions like get FreeLdr compiled into EFI PE/COFF and then loaded by EFI loader just don't go because of a number of reasons ;(
