Can we agree on the following goals for 0.3.1 ?
- NDK - Cache Manager Rewrite - VMware Tools - Ext2
It would mean that we would release 0.3.1 very closely after 0.3.0.
Maarten Bosma
If these are the goals for 0.3.1, I think many people wouldn't recognise these really awesome changes and would just see, that there aren't many changes in 0.3.0.
So maybe it would be more intelligent to either put these changes in our current 0.3.0 branch, or to rename the 0.3.0 branch to 0.2.10.
These new features could bring is alot publicity, together with the version number 0.3.0., where people would actually see them.
But if we change the plan and introduce these changes in 0.3.0, I think we should work together with some magazines and prepare some press material.
This _could_ become a huge pr show!
Just my thoughts on this...

This is strictly a roadmap issue. The goals for 0.3.0 have been met, FINALLY. The NDK and CC changes need time to be tested, and that's not going to take just a few hours.

I agree. Even if not all of the roadmap issues for 0.3 are really reached or stable it has been way to long in the 0.2.x cycle. We have added enough new features that 0.3 is now warrented even if its not very stable. The influx of new developers should help with the auditing of ntoskrnl and fixing of win32k for 0.4

I'm a little concerned about the ext2 feature.
Relax, I'll play with it and merge it back and build a patch. It had one bug which a large file ~5 meg would crash it.
I hope to see 0.3.1 come quite quickly after 0.3.0, and wouldn't want something we don't really need like ext2 holding things up.
Ged.
Thanks, James

Yes and this is what the cc branch should fix.

Hum? okay!
Its in the ext2 branch. http://svn.reactos.ru/svn/reactos/branches/ext2/reactos/

Of course it does ... it's about the time when indirect blocks start to be used instead of direct blocks...

The ext2 branch works with small files and I've tested it since last year. After writing to the ext2 partition, I have to boot linux and e2fsck it.
Thanks, James
Let us first get out 0.3.0 then we need make a new roadmap for 0.3.1

Well this was based on the information that the ext2 branch is just waiting for the cc rewrite to be merged.

I was just informed that we can not commit the branch to trunk, before the changed are audited. I untruly thought that we could make a exception for a branch beeing merged. Since lot's of changes inside of the memory manager are involved, the hole plan can be forgotten.
