USB is not a prerequisite for 0.3.0 so you might have to hold your breath for a little while longer.

I am waiting with bated breth for 0.3. I have a test system that is waiting for USB. As soon as USB is working I will put ROS on my real hardware for testing.
I hope this will be a help to the group.

I use a USB keyboard and mouse. So do a lot of other people. Me thinks that USB should be a priority.

PS/2 is more popular, so you have an alternative, well, 2 including serial. Considering there is no alternative to networking, I would say that is more important.
USB is however very close, it just isn't a priority for 0.3.0. I'm not saying it won't be ready for 0.3.0, just that it isn't a prerequisite.
This is still very much pre-alpha software thus it's still only aimed at developers, testers and enthusiasts. If USB is the only option you have, then you should use a virtual machine until it's ready. I'm pretty sure all mobo's still include PS/2 ports though, so if you were that intent on using ROS right now, you can always pick up a mouse for a couple of dolars.
That being said, USB keyboard and mouse was working in HEAD when I tried it today :)

Making USB-support a prerequisite for 0.3.0 doesn't mean, that it will be implemented sooner, but a release has to support USB to be called 0.3.0 if USB-support is a prerequisite for 0.3.0. Anyway, try the USB-Mouse and USB-Keyboard legacy options in your BIOS, with this two options enabled your mouse and keyboard should work.

I don't know how to say this any clearer than Ged did above, so I'll just repeat: USB is NOT a prerequisite for 0.3.0. Check http://www.reactos.org/wiki/index.php/0.3.x/0.3.0 if you want to know what ARE the prerequisites/show stoppers for 0.3.0.

Well, I think that it is already clear enough, I just wanted to point out, that it's unimportant for Reuben whether USB is a show-stopper/prerequisite for 0.3.0 or not, because it just affects the name of a certain release, not it's features.

[...] A recently purchased Dell 9100 that I saw didn't have serial, parallel, PS/2 or anything other than USB, sound, video, 10/100 Ethernet and expansion card slots (most slots were PCI express). I'm not arguing for USB support though as of course networking does make sense as a priority. Of course as others have said in other ways, I'm sure patches to make USB work are welcome.
