Hello, Let me invite you to the monthly status meeting taking place last thursday of this month, 28th of July, 19:00 UTC.
The meeting will be at irc://fezile.reactos.org (Port 6667, no SSL) in the channel #meeting. Note that the IRC service will only be started shortly before the meeting. Everyone is invited to listen, and active community members have their passwords so that they can participate in the discussion. If someone doesn't have a password - please don't hesitate to email Colin to get one. Colin - would you publish the most up-to-date list of participants?
Proposed agenda for the meeting: 1. Arwinss adoption voting. 2. CMake status report?. (Do we need to decide anything? If not, then let's move discussion to the mailing list) 3. Release preparation status report. (Decide when to do winesyncs and branch off the release)
More suggestions are welcome.
With the best regards, Aleksey Bragin.
4. GSoC status updates 5. Driver signing

Yes, in fact I would like to vote on whether we make the switch now. Usermode bt addresses are back to working state. If there is anything else anyone considers a blocker, please tell us now.
Once again I urge everyone who has not yet used cmake to do so before the meeting. Otherwise you cannot make any informed choice whether to switch now or if there is anything you want to be fixed.

because for a normal user, who doesnt visit IRC frequently, does not navigate into the web (wiki pages specially), or isnt in this ML, is hard right now to do it. And i would say that even visiting the wiki its still hard to compile ROS with cmake

The IRC system is still designed to use one-time passwords, so all participants will receive new passwords just before the meeting. Shouldn't be any less comfortable though, because you have to copy-paste the password from some mail anyway.

In short, it's the same list as last month minus Andrew Green and Neeraj Yadav, who both didn't reappear after their GSoC projects failed mid-term evaluation. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this, but in my opinion, GSoC students should only stay in this list if they continue to work on ReactOS after their GSoC projects are over.
Finally, it might be possible that I cannot attend this meeting till the end this time. If anybody needs an additional introduction into our LogBot and VoteBot, please let me know and I'll show you.

Can I just confirm that the channel is only available to people in the list and not the general public?
Quoting Aleksey from a previous mail: "Everyone is invited to listen, and active community members have their passwords so that they can participate in the discussion."
I assume this was a mistake and only people with a username and password are invited to listen and participate?

No, it is and has always been open to everybody who likes to join. People without username and password can just act as observers though, so they cannot talk and vote. This is also why we have voiced and non-voiced people during the meeting.

Really??? I had no idea this was the case. I thought the whole point of having it on private servers was to restrict who or what could read the logs.
I suggest this be changed to make the meetings private. People should be able to talk freely without the worry of having what they say logged by unknown 3rd parties.

Private meetings really inspire confidence in the ReactOS project that it has nothing to hide.
I myself will be observing the meeting to find out what's happening with driver signing as it may impact a project I participate in.
If you have something to hide then I too suggest talking all future ReactOS developer meetings private.

It's not about having something to hide, it's about having the confidence to speak openly about issues and not be concerned about who's listening in. I've never heard of organizations which undertake meetings in public, it seems ludicrous.
ReactOS driver signing is an internal issue and unless the IRC server is private it should be dropped from the discussions.

About ARWINSS adoption: Dunno if Aleksey said some details about it but as i understand he will be not present during that voting. So as one of the main arwinss testers i propose the next point. I don't think he meant he wants to replace current win32 SS in trunk. So the idea is to add arwinss files to trunk and make dual setup/booting or to add another bootcd/testcd target. So we could vote for each of this ideas or just vote for merging in general. Or both ;) So if i'm missing some info about merging plans tell me please. Otherwise let's just vote ;)

The meeting was a failure. Unfortunately, my pessimism, regarding the formula used in our case was 100% correct. I originally did proposed a meeting of volonteers, willing to take part and discuss about things they inted to do, in order to coordinate the effort and perhaps discuss the best way to solve the problems encountered.
Our meetings turned into a massive social event, too boring to participate actively. Want a proof? out of 3x people logged, we had... less than a dozen of votes back?
This is simply a waste of time. Perhaps some of participants can just write off 3-4 hours one thursday at the end of each month, but for me this is not acceptable.
Its a pity to see so much work from Colin, Amine and Vicmarcal, spent on organizing and wriitng up for the meetings, simply wasted. Just take a shot and count the ratio of hours spent in the meeting, vs decisions actually made.
Working over 10-11 hours a day, few hours every evening is usually all i have, shared also with my social life.
I prefer having social meetings in real life, not on IRC, hence, this is the last meeting i am participating in. Please cross my name out.
i cant go to an European country/town/city each month... i agree on being preferable real meetings than IRC ones. But, its not feasable to do it.
It is what was one of the proposals for the meeting - to have an annual physical meeting

And annual meeting in person isn't right solution for voting project's future, besides giving the possibility of having fun and sharing ideas.
