hi.. I tried the latest WDK provided by Micrsoft - http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/0/f/90f019ac-8243-48d3-91cf-81fc409...
It was attached to Qemu as a CDROM. It did boot showing the D:\ But I couldnt install it. I tried installing via wine in Lenny. That too didnt work. Any help.. Can i get an alternative older one that works with ROS?

This is the last DDK, i.e. the last one before Microsoft started to call them WDK (with Vista onwards). Supposedly this is the problem, because back then the DDK did *not* include the IFS-Kit, as the WDK does now. I think you need an MSDN subscription to get to the WDK nowadays, but not 100% sure ...

Ifs is required for it to get installed??why?
Will a driver for xp work in ros? what should be the os version i should target? They do provide something like nt files, but nothing to compile to nt compatible form(prima facia). I'm working on vfs implementation to ros.Has any work been done in that direction yet? i didnt find any but for ifs, though conceptually different.

If you are supposed to have the WDK, then it's likely that the IFS part is required as well. And that has only been included starting with the Vista WDK. In earlier times you could and had to purchase the separate IFS kit to get the same functionality.
Since you work on VFS, I'd presume you need the IFS part, unless ReactOS provides some substitute for the respective headers and static libs.

Don't try installing the WDK, DDK, or SDKs on ReactOS. It's not going to work at this point. Install it on Windows if you want to actually make use of it.

As an alternative to the MS DDK/WDK, you could use ros-sources. It includes the headers (not 100% complete), libraries will be build. Use RosBE as compiler and you can build your drivers. That's how our drivers are build. DDK docs are online and this way you can build your driver from windows and linux.

Docs are based on DDK, usually referring to DDK samples. Are there some basic explanation about how to create them with the ROS system? (I searched on the wiki, but didn't see it)
