Hi all;
I've ordered a machine from Dell, scheduled to arrive Feb 22, which
will be my "playground" machine, that I can fool around on, without
worrying about losing data. I don't expect the built-in network
interface to work with ReactOS, but the machine will have 3 expansion
slots. I may also be playing around with Minix 3.3 on the machine.
With that in mind, here are a few questions...
1) The Intel Pro/100 and Realtek-8139-chipset cards appear to be the
only cards supported by *BOTH* ReactOS and Minix 3.3. They're older
chipsets. Anyone know where I can order one of those cards (presumably
PCI)? Or even better, a physical store in Toronto that has them?
2) What's the best setup for multi-boot, involving ReactOS? Can ReactOS
boot another OS?
3) For a few extra dollars, I went and got the machine with 8 gigs of
RAM and a 1 terabyte drive. What's the recommended hard drive install
layout? I haven't used Windows at home for a dozen years. Back then,
I'd put the OS on C:\ and data+programs on D:\ and the swapfile on E:\
I retired in early 2011, and the workplace was using Windows XP back
then, so my Windows skills are rather rusty.
4) Does ReactOS work better with DVI or VGA video input? My LCD monitor
has both inputs, and the Dell will have both outputs.

Hello, I opened this thread to ask ReactOS developers if can improve the
iso labels in the generation of new installation disks
Improving iso labels, help ReactOS be recognized by the library
"libosinfo" and enhance the creation of virtual machines (eg optimizing
the hardware profile).
See:

Thank you.

Hi,
I attached a totally blank hard disk image to ReactOS, and I'd like to
partition & format it. As I see, diskmgmt.msc is not available under
ReactOS, and diskpart seems to be a stub, so I have no way to
partition it under ReactOS, without installing 3rd party software,
right?
Probably I'm missing something.

Hi,
I installed ReactOS on a KVM virtual machine from image
bootcd-68169-rel.iso. I attached a blank floppy disk to the VM and
tried to format it:
format A:
I got an error message: „ERROR_UNRECOGNIZED_VOLUME - The volume does
not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all
required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not
corrupted.”
Of course it does not have a recognized file system, as it does not
have any file system yet. It's a totally blank floppy image, and I
want to create a file system on it just now. I don't know why I get
this error.
Most likely this is a bug. I just thought to tell you about it.

1. The Commission shall continue to adopt formally, through the Product Management procedure, the use of OSS technologies and products. 2. The Commission shall ensure a level playing field for open source software and demonstrate an active and fair consideration of using open source software – taking account of the total cost of ownership of the solution. 3. For all future IT developments, the Commission shall promote the use of products that support recognised, well-documented and preferably open technical specifications that can be freely adopted, implemented and extended. Interoperability is a critical issue for the Commission, and use of well-established standards is a key factor to achieve it. 4. For the internal development of new information systems, in particular where deployment is foreseen by third parties outside the EC infrastructure, OSS shall be the preferred choice and used whenever possible. 5. The Commission shall further clarify the legal context around the internal use of OSS and make this clarification available to interested parties. The main topics to be addressed include: licensing schemes, Intellectual Property Rights, equal opportunities in the context of procurement and participation in OSS communities. 6. The Commission shall further develop guidelines and best practices allowing the setup of OSS and mixed solutions covering the full set of professional services, including deployment of OSS solutions in its data centres at the same level of service as the proprietary ones. 7. The Commission shall continue to develop and adopt best practice and tools emerging from OSS communities while applying state-of-the-art governance practices, particularly in the domain of security. In addition, the EC will facilitate and promote the creation of communities for those OSS products released by the Commission and facilitate participation in external OSS communities. 8. OSS plays an important role in e-Government projects and shall be therefore considered within the framework of these activities. 9. The collaboration between Commission teams in charge of the internal and external OSS strategies shall be further enhanced in order to achieve convergence, in particular through alignment with and reuse of validated solutions produced by the ISA programme. 10. The ICT ecosystem is extremely dynamic, innovative, and constantly evolving; as such it impacts many areas of the Commission's policies. Within this context, DIGIT shall continue to play an active role in promoting partnerships focusing on OSS between the European Institutions and other stakeholders.

Hi, staff of ReactOS.
I am Daniel Bruno, an user of ReactOS.
I used ReactOS v66721 and found the following issues with it:
1- Software 'Dev-Cpp 5.9.2 TDM-GCC 4.8.1 Setup.exe' doesn't install, because it tries to unpack but a ReactOS System Error occurs and a blue screen appears (Memory Management type!)...
The link for the software of this issue is:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/orwelldevcpp/files/Setup%20Releases/
.
Thanks for any help.
Best Regards,
Daniel Bruno.
Dear all,
Just to make sure you read it: https://www.reactos.org/node/928

Dear all,
Due to a hard disk dying, we'll attempt to anticipate its total death
tomorrow at noon CET to change it before it quits working.
It is a disk in one of our hypervisor. The following services will be hit:
-> ReactOS main website
-> Jira/Fisheye
-> Main DNS server
-> ReactOS community website
Sorry for the caused inconvenience.
With my best regards,

How do I submit a question? I would like to see what the OS GUI looks
like and how closely it follows the XP GUI. I think a good feature would be
the ability to import the XP registry so all of the programs would not have
to be reinstalled. Thanks.
