Hi folks,
does ROS run under lguest ?
I'm currently building an lguest-based VM (mass-)hosting service,
and it would be a cool thing if ROS (as win32 alternative) could
be easily run there.
My business model includes free VMs on spare resources, which
can be quickly deployed (within a minute), for testing and fun.
I'd like to provide ROS as one of the preinstalled images, so
it will get a bit more audience :)

Hallo,
Yes, ROS is alpha.
my recommendation:
- please remove 3.11 from [1]
causes:
1. Error opening freeldr.ini or file not found.
- if boot from hda after install from cdrom
- problem only if ! (hd0,1) (example: sda3)
- workaround: replacing freeloader.sys from ReactOS 0.3.10
2. repository opendn.org offline (domain parking)
- s. [2]
- new: svn.reactos.org, but impossible to config in rapps.exe!!
- workaround: wget rappmgr.cab
An interested testuser will try to install a software at firsttime.
The probability of successfulness: < 5% (0.5*0.1)

-------------------------------------------------------------------
- workaround wget rappmgr.cab
lnx # mount /dev/$part $mnt
lnx # cd $mnt/ReactOS/rapps
lnx # export http_proxy=http://proxy:3128/ ## optional
lnx # wget http://svn.reactos.org/packages/rappmgr.cab
lnx # cabextract rappmgr.cab

Please set up capturing of debug logs, as described on our wiki. Without
those no one would have any idea what is going on with your install.

I had installed from the vbox image, but decided to install from scratch
from the ROS boot iso. It works a lot better now. Screen is good, but
performance is average. Also it hangs often :(
I can't seem to open the ReactOS Explorer. It did open ONCE, but not
any more. When it did open I couldn't find any software to install.
Nothing seemed to happen.
Any ideas ??
Thanks, Brendan.

I'm having trouble running Reactos 0.3.11 on VirtualBox (on an OSX host).
The splash screen is fine, but when the desktop appears the colours go
all crazy. Looks like this happens when some kind of background/desktop
image is being displayed.
Also, when the mouse is moved over icons (e.g. MyComputer), the icons
get smudged.
I have tried using VB 3.1.6, 3.18 and 3.2.0 but they all do the same thing.
Anyone else seen similar issues ??
I did have it working once (on VB 3.1.6 I think) for a short while, but
as soon as I installed the guest additions things when belly up.
So, any tips or hints on how to get ROS working smoothly on VirtualBox ??
Are there any settings that I should definitely set or unset ??
Thanks, Brendan.
