The only formula offered to me (for starting ReactOS) has been shot down, even though I did not understand it completely anyway. It soundes like Robert was saying that I need to boot with a DOS disk, be it M$ (Micro-expensive-$oft) or freeDOS, before I can run ReactOS.
Thomas says (regarding the only way offered to me) that it is very bad and may cause various problems, but does not offer an alternative. What kinds of problems? What alternatives are there? My original question was to request the location of a HOWTO.
I would like to see this OS in action. Further, I would like to try to run some DOS and Windows programs, just to find out where ReactOS is, and how far it has left to go. Screenshots are o.k., but I would like to play with it and see what I can (and cannot) do.
You very specifically asked about the -bin.zip file. The site isn't quite clear about this, but you'd better download the CD image or one of the emulators with ReactOS preloaded. Either way, you really should read

because that definitely answers even your first question.
