Related to that: Isn't Microsoft abandoning the NT
platform, i.e. won't
ReactOS become obsolete when Longhorn is released?
(I'm not sure about that, though, I just heard that Longhorn was no
longer based on NT. If I'm wrong, please correct me. If this is true,
however, than ReactOS would turn into something similar to the GNUstep
project: Trying to recreate a platform that was abandoned a decade ago.)
AFAIK, this is compleete rubbish.
Its rather so that MS wants to move developers towards net and the clr.
Win32 or that API will not be dropped. At least the whole Net-framework
is based upon it. They could of course turn the house on the roof. But
where is the advantage for that work?
and if you look into the history. What about old APIs. What about DOS,
COM-programs, Local/Global Memory-APIs.
Reinventing the whole NT-Kernel technology is also no real option. Why
shuld they. 10^6 Drivers would have to be rewritten. The kernel and
everything around is rather hi-tech and working stable.....
Thanks,
Johannes
