Bill Gates might have received the right message from ReactOS team and decided to flee the scene after converting his stock into cash. He has duped all the investors of Microsoft.
" This summer, after 30 years at the helm of Microsoft, Bill Gates (pictured) will finally take retirement. But can he let go and can Microsoft afford to let him go?..." so goes the story at http://www.siliconrepublic.com/news/news.nv?storyid=single10457

"Five years later, it created the breakthrough MS-DOS operating system as part of a project with IBM. The rest is history."
Err, at the risk of turning this into another ms bash, From what I have read, they BOUGHT dos for a few hundred dollars, slaped there name on it and presented it to IBM as theirs. From there they went on to "aquire" advancements. About dos 5 they added undelete and a few other things they got from PCTools. Drive compression was also aquired, as was much that went into windows.

Actually, drive compression was stolen from Stack-It, (which I bought just prior to MSDOS 6.0, and immediately saw that both Stack-It and drive compression used all the same commands), a company they then bought in order to get out of the law suit. Most of what MS added to MSDOS in the early days was the result of buying the competition or stealing from them.

I believe your timeline is off just a bit. 9.2.2 came out sometime in 2001 because 9.0 had just come out when I first started working in schools in Texas in 2000. Win95 was on the fast track to no longer supported when 9.2.2 hit the hard drives. And glad I was when it passed from the scene. That was the buggiest POS I have seen.
