doable for the applications, since they usually don't contain large text
blocks, forget it for the documentation - there would be way too much
duplication. But, since this way we would end up translating two related
items (an application and its documentation) in an inconsistent way, I say
this should be limited to *really* important differences, or to differences
that wouldn't cause inconsistencies (like localizing the "mailbox" icon -
using a country-specific picture is usually harmless). That said, from a
strictly formal point of view, I think UK English is the gold standard for
the English language. Others are free to disagree
and obviously things like currency, etc. will need to
be handled.
currency information is stored in the locale database (the Registry for
custom settings, the locale.nls file otherwise), and *nowhere else*. I
don't know if we already have it, though
