Boot problem

On my Compaq with AMD Sempron CPU and VIA chipset, Reactos boots the v.0.2.8 LIVE CDROM to the point where it shows the copyright, detects CPU and memory, and reports loading of software modules through "disk.sys". It then hangs and locks the PC so that it must be unplugged to reboot. The same sequence occurs on an HP with AMD Athlon CPU and a VIA chipset. Is this a known problem? What can be done? running reactos on qemu

i am trying to run reactos under qemu in linux. but it is very unresponsive, even though it does not use a lot of processing power. can i do anything it faster. also i can't install firefox 1.0.7 or run virtual in reactos. is this because of qemu of is reactos not capable of running those programs. thank you.

ReactOS as a server

Hi all, Someone, around a year ago predicted that ros would be usable as a server by early 2006. Would anyone care to stick their neck out and predicted 1. if the first persons prediction is likely to come true, or 2. give a new prediction of when ros will become a server. Regards, jh

can i use samba shares in reatos. i am running reatos in linux under qemu and want to be able to connect to the host machine using smb shares. how can i do this. also do i have to install i web browser myself to be able to use internet in restos

About the DirectDraw test

Thanks every one that have tested Here is the result 1. Cretesurface does not working for nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 32M/64M and GeForce 6200 TurboCache(TM) 2. Small problem for Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME surface lost Here is list on graphic card that is working Ati Radon 9200SE Ati Radeon 9600 Ati Radeon 9600 Mobility Ati Rage 128 NVidia GeForce FX Go5200 32M/64M NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra I need to figout why it does not working for alex but it is working for Tim Jobling when it comes to nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 32M/64M. I got a idea why it does not working for Alex is using DVI and we do not provide the VideoPort struct as we should. That maybe is the main problem for alex. Thanks everone it seam few got some problem I can continue to write in ddraw.dll now. and I will try take care of CreateSurface problem. Next test will be 1-2 week. and it has the bltblt implement u will see a green surface then if everthing goes well. if get bad with time again it will take longer time to take care of this. and the next test will be delay.

Final WS2.2 Binary Release

Hi, After more reports from some users, I have implemented 6 new functions which were in use by many popular programs. Although much of the DLL is still unimplemented, the remaining calls are mostly for highly advanced behaviour which would be seen in either spyware of winsock firewalls, or for deprecated 16-bit support or highly unusual APIs. Since those aren't a priority right now and I haven't been able to find any application using them right now, I've chosen this version to be the "code freeze" version, which will be committed later. With the new functions (thanks to Jirka and David for finding the apps), Opera now works, as well as SmartFTP and probably a lot more applications. Here is the updated compatibility list that I've made: Firefox, Opera, Filezilla, Thunderbird, IE 6, OE 6, Azureus, Microsoft Terminal Services Client, Skype, Google Talk, World of Warcraft, MIRC, XChat, MSN Messenger, SmartFTP. This list is satisfactory to me, as it includes almost all the biggest network applications out there. I am now looking for any final showstoppers before focusing on mswsock.dll, so I've posted this mail on the General Mailing List as well, hoping to get more testers. Thanks for testing!
