Might be the low quality of my english vocabulary, but i do not know
what difference you are doing between "censoring" and "moderating"...
About "opinions", i think i have been a very good example that this
is _not_ possible.

I was cruising the forums a little bit ago, and came
across some rather unpleasant postings by some of our
users. It would be in our best interests to clean
them up promptly, as their disrespect to people with
honest questions reflects poorly on our developers,
and the project as a whole.
There may be more, but I found the derogatory postings
in the 'Please...' thread, and the "Blue screen of
death" thread.
I hope this is an isolated incident, but if it keeps
up, we may have to have a dedicated forum moderator to
keep things civil in there. Some people just dont
know how to be nice to each other.

I've only used the OpenSSL (ironically in a 32bit DLL, called via thunking
from a 16bit app...)
but there is another project GnuTLS.
http://www.gnu.org/software/gnutls/gnutls.html
Obviously this is GPL, but I don't know much about this project.

Subject: [ros-general] License issue with OpenSSL and ReactOS (GPL)
Hello,
I am out of development for a few weeks but I have some ideas about
using OpenSSL in ReactOS but we have one minor show stoppper. The
OpenSSL license is not compatible with the GPL so any code that links
to OpenSSL is going to need to be either LGPL or GPL with a exception
for OpenSSL. We need to use OpenSSL in a few user-space dlls (wininet,
rsabase, cryptoapi) and in our implementation of the security subsystem
(lsass, ntoskrnl/se, samlib, etc). In the user-space stuff this isnt a
issue as nothing is really implemented anyway but in the security
subsystem side this may cause a problem because we already have some
existing code. Can we license all of ReactOS as GPL and only license
those files that directly link to OpenSSL as "GPL+Exception"? The is a
problem because OpenSSL uses a BSD style advertising clause that is
incompatible with the GPL.
Thanks
Steven

Thank you.
I've tried ROS binaries 0.2.0, but found it hans up after checking
the drives in the blue-screen stage. Binaries're unpacked into
C:\reactos with enough free space (though pagefile takes only 200k),
128M RAM (ROS found only 64M), PII-compartible Celeron.
Hard disk is the only one in the system and has 3 partitions: FAT32
C:, FAT32 D: and UFS (FreeBSD) hidden from WinME (which is on drive
C:). I've got 2 variants, but can't test them, so need your expert
opinion:
1). Though ROS hangs up after checking C:, then D:, suppose it's
confused by UFS partition (which is the last in the disk layout).
2). The HD isn't so old (5 years), but is DMA-less (supports PIO4 max., while
ATAPI v4). The thing that it was critical for my FreeBSD 4.9 kernel,
which panics & reboots the system if not manually configured not to
use DMA (while 4.5 kernel could fall back to PIO mode...).
So if you know what's the problem or, even more, know the solution,
reply.
Hi,
Is the following error message to do with something that is not yet implemented and should it be ignored.
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Where should programmes be put in the Reactos directory ?
I have put a text editor called 2xEditor into the bin directory, I have then been able to run it in ros from the start button and then the run program button. I have been able to save a file from it's file save menu, but when I tried to save additions to the file, ros died with the above message. The saved file was found to be empty.
I can also save a file in windows notepad with it's file save menu.
There is a noticable inprovement from the last release (0.2.0)

jh
Hello,
the time for ReactOS website to become multilanguage is coming, and actually is rather near :-)
So, to start, we need to gather a team of translators for every language.
As an initial attempt, I searched the ReactOS maillist archives, and found the following people are (were?) willing to do the ReactOS translation.
Here is the list:
Name Languages E-Mail
Rick Langschultz 1) French absleadcoder(a)cox.net
2) Spanish
3) Irish Gaelic
4) Manx Gaelic
Mikhail Y. Zvyozdochkin Russian mzvyozd(a)narod.ru
Waldo Alvarez Spanish wac(a)ghost.matcom.uh.cu
Alexander Ciobanu 1) Romanian alex(a)prodidactica.md
2) Russian
Filip Navara Czech xnavara(a)volny.cz
Bjorn Fischer German thebear80(a)gmx.net
Mark IJbema Dutch mark(a)ijbema.xs4all.nl
Lorenzo Italian garbage(a)loz.it
mtg Japanese mtg(a)ce.wakwak.com
tmtsac(a)hotmail.com
Oliwer French oliwer(a)free.fr
This list is a very preliminary one, since actually I haven't asked anyone from this list if he really wants to do the translation now, except for Oliwer, who already sent me an email regarding his English -> French translation skills.
If anyone has changed their mind since they post to ros-general/ros-kernel --- let me know, and I will remove you from this list.
So far we have this (hope line wrap doesn't harm this, in any case I will repost the updated versions of these tables in a better format later):
Czech Dutch French Gaelic (Irish) Gaelic (Manx) German Italian Japanese Romanian Russian Spanish
Navara IJbema Oliwer Langschultz Langschultz Fischer Lorenzo mtg Ciobanu Bragin Langschultz
(GvG ?) Langschultz Ciobanu
Zvyozdochkin
We have a good situation in Dutch (IJbema can translate, and GvG can approve --- ? ), French, and Russian (we may have even another man here - Semyon Novikov) languages.
But certainly for a start, at least one people per language is enough, though two are highly preferable.
I will post translation rules and guideline here later, and actually I am going to start preparing the stuff for translation.
With the best regards,
Aleksey Bragin.
Hi folks,
a very general question:
why are you developing a completely new kernel instead of using an
existing one like linux or hurd and running reactos just as a
subsystem, perhaps with some kernel improvements.
For example: linux brings very good memory management and filesystem.
If you want to use Xwindow, you can use a direct graphics backend
for the UI. Console applications could run directly on stdio as
all unix console applications do.
Doing so lets you run the windows applications within a another
host operating system and integrating both together.
So what are the advantages of another own kernel against a subsystem
in another host operating system ?

Hello,
we have two ways to setup Terms Translations Tables.
1. Every language group coordinator maintains such a table in some format,
say, XML. People who are actually doing translation use it, and if they want
to add an entry to the table - they send email to the language coordinator,
he adds this term to the table, marks it as not-approved, asks other people
to approve this term, and if it's correct, mark it as approved. Everytime
this XML table should be available from somewhere for download.
2. Use ReactOS Wiki for this purpose. I have tried to create links from
Translation page to tables for three languages, and tried to add some
content into Russian table page, but I couldn't find how to add a table into
Wiki. Does our Wiki support tables?
This way all people will have access to the table, can add entries by
themselves (but we rely on them marking the term unapproved first, and only
then, when all other translators agree to the term, it's marked as
approved), and language coordinator manages this process.
I need your opinion about this, what would be the most comfortable way to do
this? I like Wiki idea, but I can't create a good table in it, and I don't
want to substitute tables with lists.
With the best regards,
Aleksey Bragin.
