Yes this is REALLY needed but.....

.....depends on what happens at Wineconf.....

For all of this to happen WINE Must....Be....Stable. Are we going to
see 0.9 tagged as the main event at Wineconf 2004? Until we have a WINE
1.x I dont think we are going to see this in large numbers. Once 1.x
happens and our regression testing system is filled with unit tests it
will make vendors jump on board.
All in all I think its a great idea from the ReactOS side as I have
been putting out feelers to ISVs Q&A people and they have no problem
adding ReactOS to the already bloated list of Windows versions they
have to test apps for. If this is going to really happen though we must
have a stable WINE sooner rather than later.
Thanks
Steven
PS. The goal 95% of all Windows apps on crossover is nice but I am
afraid I am seeing more and more .Nyet apps out in the real world. For
this to happen anytime soon we have to get on the ball with Mono and Windows.Forms.

Since the RC1 .iso was removed from SourceForge (it contained a
dangerous error in the setup program) and the RC2 is scheduled for
Wednesday night there is no "official" 0.2 .iso downloadable at the
moment. To help tide us over I've put a new .iso here:
ftp://ftp.geldorp.nl/pub/ReactOS.iso
Of course, the fix that Hartmut Birr made to repair the setup program is
included in this .iso.
It will disappear after RC2 is available on SourceForge.
Gé van Geldorp.
Hi, i'm currently trying to install ROS 0.2.
The install appears to be good, but when it installs the boot loader it says something similar to:
Current partition is unused (invalid), and didn't install the bootloader.
Any idea on how it's fail?
By the way, can ROS booted with grub or something that can "chainload"?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi!
Maybe it is time to update the applicaton/driver compatibility list on the website in time for the upcoming
release. If I'm not misstaken ROS now runs a few more applications now (solitaire, winemine...).

Hi, I have some serious problems with the installer in Bochs (v2.1).
I've created a 500M hd image, and started installation from the ISO-Image with
32M ram. The installer created a partition and formatted it without any
problems. However, the installation hangs then, usually during "Building the
file copy list...", sometimes also later, after having copied about half of
the files.
With 64M ram, the installation finishes successfully, but after rebooting,
freeldr complains about missing "ntoskrnl.exe". Investigation with mtools
shows, that during the installation the files are copied onto the harddrive
correctly, but after the importing of the registry, they are somehow removed,
and explorer.exe and regedit.exe appear directly in c:\reactos instead of bin
or system32.

The latest commits fix ALOT of focusing issues, i must say NIIICE. I
still can't click browse on the Run dialog without a lockup, nor can i
open an explorer window, nore can i navigate the drives in the start
menu, but window focusing issues are fixed, and explorer is beginning to
act a bit less off the wall. Nice job!
