well, my main reason is that i use linux for servers in schools,
but there
is a vast amount of specialist educational software that needs to run on
desktop windows, on fairly low spec machines. what i want is something i
can plug in as a direct, free replacement for windows that looks the same,
works the same, and does not need high spec (expensive) machines to cope
with a bloaty os + subsystem.
don't get me wrong, i love linux/samba, it saves the schools i work for a
fortune in server licences, but it is geting bigger and more demanding in
terms of hardware.
