I am building RC1 right now and hopfully will publish it later on this afternoon. I am including rosapps as we did in 0.2.8. I am wondering how people feel about the changing the preloaded qemu release to have 800x600res by default and the background to something some picture?

Why don't you change the resolution to 800x600 for everything? The dialogs in the second part of setup are all a bit higher than 640, so you can't see the buttons on the bottom of the dialogs with the default res 640x480... And a default background pic would be nice, but maybe we should demonstrate this feature with the 0.3.0 release, because it is something you can see, unlike most other 0.3.0 features.

Chaning default to 800*600 seems like a good idea. It also seems as a good idea to change the default color depth to 16-bit or 24-bit. Or is this just a visual bug in the display settings dialog?

A question related to that QEMU image. Wouldn't it be nice to have the most current version of ROS available as a VMWare Virtual Machine, now that VMWare released the VMWare player?!
It runs much quicker and it will still allow people to get the software freely. I know there is usually some reluctance if it comes to using "closed-source" in relation to open source projects, but here it could be very useful and much more impressive as well, since VMWare is a dynamic emulator unlike QEMU which fully emulates a x86.
What do you think?

I've spent the last 6 months or so just lurking and seeing what's going on with the ReactOS project and am really impressed how it's coming along. Good work guys! Just wanted to add my tuppence worth on the subject.
I can't imagine it would do any harm at all to release a VMWare ReactOS virtual machine. If nothing else, it would only help promote the project showing the performance of ReactOS that QEMU possibly couldn't. It'd be a good thing to offer both anyway, that's how I see it. Talking of which, I'm going to go build a vmware virtual machine and have another look at reactos!
Cheers and keep up the good work!
Alastair
You need to branch and eventually tag it all (not just trunk/reactos) so we can find and retrieve the exact revision of the point in time of the release, in the future. It doesn't consume extra space to branch it all.

I wasn't sure weather I should branch all of trunk or just trunk/reactos and sedwards suggested trunk/reactos so I went with it. What would you like to be done, delete this branch and redo it with trunk?

There is only one change on the branch so delete & re-copy shouldn't be too difficult.

Ok, should be branched correctly now.
