Hello
I'm pleased to announce the release of Reaction: an aptitude like
application written specifically for ReactOS, developed in python. The
project homepage is
http://code.google.com/p/reaction/
The project have two goals: to provide a repository of free software
applications that are known to work decently, i.e doesn't crash, with
the latest release of ReactOS; And to provide an automated way to
install a set of applications that make a desktop system, eg. Web
browser, email client, media player, etc. on ReactOS, something like the
GNU/Linux distributions like Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva and others.
Software freedom is really important to me, that's why Reaction is
completely free software and the application repository will only have
free software applications.
There is an installer available at
http://reaction.googlecode.com/files/reaction.exe If you have some free
time please check it out, and report any bugs you find to
http://code.google.com/p/reaction/issues/list
Please remember this is the first release of reaction and it will have
bugs for sure, so please be patient.
I'll write some documentation this weekend, but if you are familiar with
aptitude, I'm pretty sure there will be no problem figuring reaction out.
I hope you find it useful.
Regards.
David Zaragoza
ps. Try 'reaction install reactos-desktop' for a bundle of nice desktop
applications. There are only three applications at the moment, but it
will grow.
